What is Marigold Cooking Collective and what do we do?
Events and Classes:
- We host virtual and in person cooking classes for all ages and skill levels. These classes are sliding scale so they can be accessible to every curious person seeking to expand the breadth of their kitchen knowledge!
- We host private in person and virtual classes for friends and families. These classes are curated to you and your group. What do you want to learn? How can we create a dynamic and exciting culinary experience just for you?
- Corporate team building – These events can be customized to create a joyful moral boosting event for your business. Most popular offerings are virtual happy hours, pasta making and tapas classes.
- Pop ups – we host pop-up events at different restaurants and farms around Lane County to raise money for our teen program and brick and mortar location.
- Catering – We are available to cater small gatherings (30 or less people) and will employ the teens from our job training program to assist with these events. We feature local, seasonal ingredients cooked simply with a lot of love.
We have a teen job training program! We collaborate with other organizations and nonprofits that do empowering work with teens.
Current partners include:
- –C.O.R.E. – For the past two years we have been working with C.O.R.E. to cook for Street Feed, a bimonthly meal provided to at-risk youth for free. They will be an integral part of the job training program.
- –Ophelia’s Place – Ophelia’s Place is an incredible non-profit community space for girl identifying teens. We create culinary summer camp and after school programs for them.
- –Positive Community Kitchen – PCK cooks and delivers nourishing meals to people with cancer and work with teenage volunteers from the local public high schools in Eugene.
- p:ear Mentor – P:ear is an incredible nonprofit in Portland that provides support to homeless youth. They have been supportive in helping us structure our job training program and have a thriving job training program of their own. They offer barista and bike mechanic training among many other services.
Food Folklore:
We are creating a place to document and share food traditions and culture.
- The Flavor Archive:
- This is an archive of recipes and videos on the Marigold Website. All recipes are public domain and free. Videos will be shared for a fee and the money raised through the video sales will go to pay the people who are sharing their food traditions.
- This is a place to talk about food identity and culture. We accept submissions and hope to create a safe space to tell the stories behind our food and share recipes and traditions that honor the past and make way for a more delicious, equitable and abundant future. If you want to be featured on our blog, email us your submission at
FAQ
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
-We do not offer refunds. If you cannot make it to a cooking class, it is your responsibility to find someone to take your place. Think of it like a concert ticket.
-If we cancel a class for any reason, you will be issued a full refund if you ask for it within the week of the cancellation. Otherwise you will be issued a voucher for a future class.
Where is your cooking school?
-We currently do not have a brick and mortar location so classes take place at various different kitchens, restaurants and farms in and around Eugene, Oregon. We hope to have a brick and mortar location of our own by the end of 2023!
-We are currently hosting cooking classes at Erin’s Table in downtown Eugene.
How do I take part in your sliding scale offerings?
-All public classes are offered at a sliding scale. If you’d like to participate in the sliding scale send an email to [email protected] letting us know how much you can afford to pay for the class and we will give you a coupon code to use when you sign up on our website.
